Vatican Museums complete guidede tour, is the one  to visit the major highlight including the Sistine chapel and St. Peter’s basilica.  Visiting the Vatican Museums generally leaves people overwhelmed by the beauty offered by the various collections within the museums.

If you are a visitor who wants to get a taste of the art housed within the Vatican Museums and visit the major works, which will be selected by our guide, then you have found the museum tour for you.

There are many offers to visit the Vatican Museums, but we at GoRomeTour, want to be realistic so we don’t tell you that you will visit everything and the answer is simple, in a museum that houses distinct collections from the paintings gallery to Etruscan art to Egyptian art, it is unthinkable to do it all in one day and quite frankly it wouldn’t even be a complete and enjoyable visit.

We prefer to customize for our shared experience a pleasant visit which is concentrated in some of the most important masterpieces and in the Sistine Chapel.

You will visit the Gallery of Candelabras: it was originally an open loggia with arcades which were closed by Simonetti and Camporese under the pope Pius VI. The gallery is named after the candelabras placed in front of the pillars.

Gallery of Tapestries: the tapestries over here are from the Scuola Nuova and were made in Brussels from Rapahel’s pupils in the time of Clement VII.

Gallery of Maps: the gallery takes its name from the 40 topographical maps of the region of Italy. This is one of the longest gallery of the Vatican Museums and its amazing the impression you have once you enter inside to admire its wall and ceiling completely decorated.

St. Peter’s basilica: the basilica you visit nowdays was built above the ancoent basilica and above the site of the tomb of St.Peter. The acutal basilica was started on 18 April 1506 and was consacreted on 18 November 1626, 120 years after the beginning of work.

At the end of your tour you will be taken to the piazza and you will enter  St Peter’s Basilica with our guide who will give you all the explanation about the beautiful masterpieces you will be able to see inside. Admire Michelangelo’s Pietà and all the beautiful chapels in the basilica.

You will end your tour in St.Peter’s square .
